The silver lining...

David did a lot of research to make our house as energy efficient as possible (okay, the recessed lighting obsession doesn't count!), so we were excited when he found this thermal foil radiant barrier to help insulate it better. We decided to use this and the nonfaced regular insulation. We used it as a vapor barrier on all the exterior walls; and also in the ceiling, so it acted as both a vapor barrier & a radient barrier too.

He ordered it online and did the installation himself. It was fairly easy to install; I helped cut the pieces to size, the kids stacked them up, and David stapled them all in. It comes in big rolls and is almost like thin foam bubble wrap with a silver liner.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of this step but here's what it looked like after installation (in the ceiling).
